The most recent translation is the 2018 “Soviet Milk” by Margita Gailītis, published by the British Periene Press. As of now, it is also available to readers in Hungary with the title “Anyatej” in translation by Laczházi Aranka, published by the Vince Kiadó publishing house, as well as in Italy as “Il latte della madre”, translated by Margherita Carbonaro, published by Voland. In 2017, “Soviet Milk” (“Mātes piens”, Dienas Grāmata, 2015) was published in two translations in Macedonia – in Macedonian as “Мајчино млеко” translated by Gorgi Krstevski and published by Antalog and Albanian as “Ǫumёshti I nёnёs” by Shkupi translated by Luan Morina. The novel has now been published in Macedonia, Hungary, Italy and Great Britain. ![]() Nora Ikstena’s “Soviet Milk” (“Mātes piens”), a novel praised and admired by readers and critics in Latvia, is now available to increasingly larger audiences beyond the borders of Latvia. ![]()
